An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.0 shook the Inland Empire Thursday morning.

The temblor struck at 10:18 a.m. 4.5 miles northwest of Muscoy and a little more than 8 miles northeast of Fontana at a depth of just over 6 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Shaking was felt as far south as Riverside, according to the USGS. Residents in Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga and Lytle Creek also received a light jolt.

There was no immediate word on any injuries or damage caused by the quake.

The quake struck along the San Andreas Fault which forms the main strand of the plate boundary, running from the Gulf of California (Baja California, Mexico) north to the region of Cape Mendocino, according to the USGS.
