Friday is Nexstar Founder’s Day of Caring 2024, and the KTLA team is at Project Angel Food in Hollywood to give back to those in need.
Every year, Nexstar — the parent company of KTLA and dozens of other television stations across the country — offers paid time off for employees to volunteer in their local communities.
Last year, about 5,700 Nexstar employees volunteered more than 17,500 hours at 240 charitable organizations.
This year, KTLA selected Project Angel Food, which creates medically tailored meals for those who can no longer cook for themselves.
“Under the care of Project Angel Food’s registered dietitians, and in consultation with each client’s primary healthcare case manager, clients receive one-on-one nutritional counseling and a customized menu that is designed to meet the unique needs of their diagnosis and aligned with their personal dietary restrictions and preferences,” the charity said on its website. “Currently, the Project Angel Food kitchen creates 13 variations of each menu.”
