The search continued Friday for two individuals who shot three male victims, two of them fatally, on a street in Riverside last month, police said.

An investigation by homicide detectives revealed that the incident began about 9:30 p.m. Oct. 23, when a car pulled up to a curb and parked on Seventh Street at Kansas Avenue, according to a statement from the Riverside Police Department.

A man got out of the passenger seat and walked up to one of the victims, who was standing on the corner, and shot him, the news release said.

The two other victims — later identified by police as Riverside residents Juan Antonio Bartolo and Domingo Esteban — were walking on Seventh, near Kansas, when they passed the gunman, who then ran back to the vehicle. The driver then exited the car and fired several shot at Bartolo and Esteban, the statement said.

Patrol officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting the shooting, and arrived to find the three victims on the ground, suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Police Department.

Bartolo was pronounced dead at the scene. Esteban died at a hospital. The third victim was also hospitalized and was recovering from his injuries.

None of the three victims had gang affiliations, the news release said.

The shooter in the passenger seat was described as black, in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and pants. At a news conference Thursday, investigators released surveillance video that they said showed the passenger walking on a tree-lined sidewalk.

No description of the driver was available.

The vehicle being sought was said to be a dark, mid-2000s model, mid-sized sedan.
