Anglers and fishing lovers in the Los Angeles area have access to four of the world’s best fishing guides, according to new research.
FishingBooker, an online platform that connects anglers with fishing guides, has released their Angler’s Choice Award every year since 2015; the accolade acknowledges charter operators for their exceptional customer service, reliability and quality of fishing trips.
Of the 7,910 eligible captains, only 537 – just 6.8% — received the exclusive recognition, FishingBooker said.
“Four of the winners are based in L.A., which is ten percent of all captains on FishingBooker in the area, well above the national average,” analysts said.
To be eligible for the award, guides needed to have at least a 4.8-star (out of 5 stars) review rating from over 10 verified reviewers. Guides also needed to have at least a 98% reliability score and response rate in addition to having a fully verified sportfishing business.
The four L.A. fishing guides that ranked among the top 7% in the world, according to FishingBooker, are:
- Nolan Woody – Full Spectrum Sport Fishing, Huntington Beach
- Roger Kassabian – ROGEZAC Sportfishing, San Pedro
- Harry Markarian – Mystic Queen Sportfishing, San Pedro
- Shannon McGraw – Sealutions Sportfishing, Newport Beach
“Over time, the criteria [for the award] became tougher, as we wanted to recognize and honor our most committed captains, and to make it easier for anglers to identify the very best guides,” FishingBooker CEO Vukan Simic said.
