A former New York City Fire Department captain was sentenced Thursday to 270 days in L.A. County jail and ordered to register as a sex offender for sexually molesting twin boys who were 11 at the time of the crime.

Wilbert Riera, 52, resigned from his position with FDNY last month, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, which announced his sentencing.

Riera was arrested at a fire house in Staten Island by an FBI task force in New York on Sept. 26, 2014, about two weeks after he molested the boys during a visit to family members in L.A.

He pleaded no contest on Sept. 10 to two felony counts of lewd act with a child under 14.

Riera was ordered to complete at least one year of sex offender therapy and placed on probation for five years.

He must register as a sex offender for life.

He began serving his 270-day county jail term Thursday, the DA’s office said.
