A shouting match nearly turned violent when at least two men disrupted a pro-Palestinian demonstration outside the German consulate in Los Angeles on Monday.
A KTLA 5 News photographer recorded video of a man kicking signs and hurling profanities and insults at members of CODEPINK, which organized the event in L.A. and another in New York.
The group, which has labeled Israel’s war against Hamas a “genocide,” is demanding the United States and Germany stop providing military support for Israel.
“Take this crap down!” the man, who was wearing a yarmulke, shouted as he kicked signs that were resting against a wall.
One sign read, “Germany & US: Stop Aiding & Abetting Israeli Genocide. Let Gaza Live!”
Another video shows a second man arguing face-to-face and nearly coming to blows with demonstrators, some of whom also appeared to be Jewish.
Israel’s offensive in Gaza began on Oct. 7, 2023, when Hamas-led militants stormed into Southern Israel, killing 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking more than 200 people hostage.
In early November, an altercation involving pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrators in Thousand Oaks led to the death of Paul Kessler, 69, who suffered a head injury after police say he fell and hit his head.
Loay Abdelfattah Alnaji, 50, a professor at Moorpark College, was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and battery causing serious bodily injury. He has pleaded not guilty.
