A Wrightwood mother is facing a felony charge after she was pulled over by a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy who found methamphetamine and a gun while she was driving her child, according to officials.

Danielle Westhoff, 41, was pulled over for alleged vehicle code violations near the intersection of Sheep Creek and Phelan roads in Phelan just after 9 a.m. Thursday, the SBSD said in a news release.

When the deputy made contact with Westhoff, he found her driver’s license had been “suspended and revoked,” the SBSD said.

A subsequent search of the red 2001 Chevrolet pickup revealed a gun and “suspected methamphetamine” in her purse, the release said, and she was arrested on a charge of possessing a controlled substance while armed.

Westhoff was traveling with her 10-year-old son in the car, and the boy was turned over to a family member.

The SBSD said Westhoff was being held in lieu of $40,000 bail at the High Desert Detention Center, but jail records indicate that she has been released.

No court appearance has been scheduled.
