A crash in Sherman Oaks late Friday led to the hospitalization of two California Highway Patrol officers, authorities confirmed.

The collision took place around 11 p.m. while the officers were in pursuit of a suspected stolen vehicle in the northbound lanes of the 405 freeway.

The two CHP units involved crashed into each other when allegedly stolen car exited the freeway on the Ventura Boulevard offramp while the suspect vehicle, a Kia sedan, parked in a nearby parking lot where three suspects took off on foot, according to the CHP.

Law enforcement took two of the three suspects into custody, authorities said. The status of the third remained unknown as of Saturday morning.

The conditions of the two hospitalized officers was not immediately made available.
