The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public’s help to find the suspects in a Boyle Heights shooting that killed a 14-year-old boy.

Officers responded to a call for “shots fired” at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday at 1st and Pecan streets, near Pecan Park and the 101 Freeway.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a young Hispanic male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe the shooting is gang-related.

Authorities say they received reports of two male suspects fleeing the area in a vehicle but did not release any details about the men or the type of car they were in.

The ensuing investigation prompted California Highway Patrol to issue a SigAlert for the southbound off ramp of the 101 Freeway for an unknown amount of time.
