After an hourslong standoff in Long Beach following an alleged domestic violence incident, SWAT officials entered the home on Friday and found no one inside, local police said.

Police responded to a report of domestic violence at a home in the 900 block of Cerritos Avenue (map) around 12:30 a.m., Long Beach Police Department’s Nancy Pratt said.

A woman was able to leave the residence, but police believed a man remained inside.

SWAT officials were called to the scene and entered the home some six hours later when they were not able to make contact with the man.

No one was found inside the home, and the man was believed to have fled the area – along with his children – before police arrived.

His children were not believed to be in danger, officials said.

Residents adjacent to the property were evacuated to a nearby school during the standoff, Pratt said.
