An elaborate burglary ring was busted Tuesday thanks to a quick-thinking neighbor and the Glendora Police Department’s newest K-9 named Bo.

A resident called police when he spotted several people climbing through the window of a neighbor’s home at Easley Canyon and East Palm Drive.

When police arrived, the alleged burglars scattered but were quickly surrounded by officers.

Among those responding, was Officer Scott Salvage and his partner, Bo, a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois who graduated from K-9 training just four months ago.

Tuesday was Bo’s first real-life test and he made his handler proud despite facing one man who tried to pepper-spray the K-9.

“He definitely tried to pepper spray my dog,” Salvage said. “He struck and threw my dog.”

But Bo got right back up and went after the man, Salvage said.

When it was over, eight people were taken into custody.
