Homicide detectives were investigating the fatal shooting of a man in the Westmont neighborhood of South Los Angeles early Saturday, authorities said.

The shooting occurred just before 1:45 a.m. in the 9900 block of Budlong Avenue (map), according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim, described only as an adult male, died at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Department had no information about the shooter, the release stated.

An investigation was continuing and no further information about the incident was available.

Anyone with information about shooting was urged to contact the Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
