A dog covered in scars was discovered Wednesday trapped inside a dog house that had been left in the street in the South Los Angeles neighborhood of Florence.

The dog was found near the corner of  83rd Street and Grand Avenue in a wooden dog house that had been nailed shut, according to the “Ghetto Rescue Foundation.”

It appeared the animal had been locked in the dog house for days without food or water, the rescue organization said.

Video showed the dog appeared to be frightened when members of the rescue group approached him.

The organization was now caring for the dog and also looking for the person who did this to him.

The Ghetto Rescue Foundation is staffed by police, fire and civilian personnel who donate their free time to helping animals and families in need, according to their website.
