A 57-year-old school bus driver from Twentynine Palms was arrested for child molestation and possession of child pornography, authorities revealed Friday.

Alex Gomez was taken into custody Thursday after detectives served a warrant at his home in the 4600 Block of Mesquite Springs, according to a news release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Inside the home, investigators from the sheriff’s Morongo Basin Station recovered evidence of child molestation and child pornography, the release stated.

Gomez was charged with possession of child pornography and lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14 in connection with two female juveniles, ages 4 and 8 years old, the release stated.

It was not clear what initially led detectives to investigate Gomez.

Detectives believed these crimes occurred while Gomez worked as a bus driver and were concerned there may be other victims.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation was urged to contact Detective Heidi Hague at 760-366-4175.
