Police in Huntington Beach on Tuesday asked for the public’s help in identifying a man who they said stole cash, checks and other valuables from a medical building earlier this month.

The man forced his way into the Hoag Health Center, in the 19500 block of Beach Boulevard (map), about 12:25 a.m.  Dec. 6, according to a statement from the Huntington Beach Police Department.

He was able to enter the suites of multiple businesses, the statement said. Several other suites, which were not entered, had pry marks on their doors.

The man took an envelope that contained payment checks made out to company from which they were stolen, a small black safe with $280 cash inside, a Starbucks gift card, Kindle Fire, and $17 in cash, authorities said.

Surveillance video shows the intruder entering offices on the first floor of the building, according to investigators.

He is described as white; about 35 to 40 years old; clean shaven; with an average build and short, dark, brown hair; wearing dark clothing.
