A flash-flood warning was issued for western Los Angeles County on Friday morning as the biggest winter storm in several years slammed into the region.
The storm brought strong winds and heavy rain to Southern California as of 3:30 a.m., with reports of trees down. Emergency alerts were sent out on cellphones.
As of 3:44 a.m., radar showed a strong band of rain and wind moving through the Los Angeles basin, from Pasadena down through L.A. and into Long Beach.
The storm entered the region in Santa Barbara then moved through Ventura County. The National Weather Service reported there were mudslides in Camarillo Springs, a community hit by last year’s Springs fire. Several homes were reportedly damaged.
