A 34-year-old teacher in Mission Viejo was arrested Friday after a monthslong investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student at La Paz Intermediate School.

Kristen Roush, an eighth-grade teacher, was arrested at her home in Aliso Viejo for lewd and lascivious acts with a child in connection with the case, according to a news release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The investigation began in July after the alleged victim’s parents became “concerned over what they perceived as an inappropriate relationship between their juvenile son and Roush” and contacted authorities, the release stated.

Evidence of an alleged inappropriate relationship was also gathered from both the victim and teacher’s cellphone, according to the release.

Roush was being held on $50,000 bail and was expected to appear in court on Monday.
