A sergeant with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department was arrested on several charges, including assault and kidnapping, after allegedly getting into a fight with his girlfriend and then attacking a female friend who was with them, authorities announced late Tuesday.
Sgt. Terry Jones was accused of getting into a physical altercation with his girlfriend after a night of drinking with three other people at an establishment in Old Town Temecula earlier this month, according to Sgt. Mike Manning, a public information officer with the Sheriff’s Department.
A short time later, Jones allegedly attacked and assaulted a woman from the group after they returned to his Temecula residence, Manning stated in a news release.
A female reported the alleged assault to the Southwest Sheriff’s Station on the afternoon of Oct. 4.
Following an investigation, Jones was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery, felony assault and kidnapping, according to the news release.
He was booked at Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
Jones, who has worked for the Sheriff’s Department since 1998, has been put on paid administrative leave and his peace officer powers were suspended, Manning said.
