A stabbing at an apartment building in Pasadena left a married couple dead and a man believed to be relative in custody Monday morning, according to police.

About 6:15 a.m., authorities received a 911 call from the male victim, who said he and his wife had been stabbed and were badly injured inside a third-floor apartment in the 200 block of North Madison Avenue (map), a news release from the Pasadena Police Department stated.

“The caller reported that the suspect, a reported family member, had possibly left the apartment,” the release said.

A man was taken into custody after being found walking near Madison Avenue and Walnut Street with bloodied clothing and a minor injury to his arm, according to police. The suspect, who was not identified, was hospitalized and remained in police custody.

Police Lt. Tracey Ibarra described the suspect as a family member.

The female victim died soon after being taken to a local hospital and the male victim died in surgery, according to police. Both had multiple stab wounds.

Authorities have not identified the stabbing victims, but a public records search listed Larry Bressler as a resident of the apartment.

Chefs Center of California confirmed Bressler’s death in a news release Monday.

“It is with a very heavy heart that we inform you that Larry Bressler, Chefs Center’s Director of Operations, died tragically this morning,” the statement read.

The intersection of North Madison Avenue and East Walnut Street was partially closed during the investigation, aerial video from Sky 5 showed.

The investigation was continuing. Anyone with information was asked to contact the Pasadena Police Department at 626-744-4241 or report anonymously at crimestoppers.com.
