The Supermoon was caused high tides and dangerous swimming conditions at Los Angeles and Ventura County beaches Sunday, the National Weather Service reported.
The moon’s enhanced size and brightness occurs when it becomes full on the same days as its perigee, which is the point in the moon’s orbit when it is closest to Earth.
Its shift in the sky also effects the ocean’s tide.
South and southwest facing beaches were expected to have the strongest currents.
Dangerous conditions expected to diminish by Monday afternoon.
