Police were trying to locate a handcuffed suspect who escaped custody while being treated at West Anaheim Medical Center on Wednesday.

Nazim Amett Polanco was arrested for felony narcotics and theft-related charges on Wednesday, according to a news release from the Buena Park Police Department.

The 19-year-old was later taken by officers to West Anaheim Medical Center after complaining he was injured, the release stated.

While being treated, the release stated that Polanco ran out of the emergency room and onto Beach Boulevard while still handcuffed.

Officers were unable to locate him.

Polanco was described as a male Hispanic, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140 pounds with a shaved head.

He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and black jeans.
