A number of street closures were in effect in West Hollywood on Sunday as the city geared up for the PRIDE Parade, the biggest event of the three-day 2014 LA PRIDE Celebration.

More than 400,000 participants, spectators and marchers were expected to attend the event, making it the largest gathering of people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender in Southern California, according to LAPride.org.

Street closures would go into effect prior to the parade and would be lifted once it was over.

The city announced the following street closures on its website:

  • San Vicente Boulevard between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue: Closed from 7 p.m. Thursday, June 5, through 10 a.m. Monday, June 9.
  • Santa Monica Boulevard from Fairfax Avenue to Doheny Drive: Closed from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 8.
  • Streets one block north and south of Santa Monica Boulevard (Fairfax Avenue to La Peer Drive): Closed from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 8.
  • Crescent Heights Boulevard from Romaine Street to Fountain Avenue: Closed from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 8.

Permit and metered parking in the area would not be enforced during Sunday’s festivities, according to the city’s website.

The parade was scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. and could run as late as 4 p.m., according to the event’s website. Actress and singer Demi Lovato will serve as the grand marshal of the parade.

Sunday is the last day of the 2014 LA PRIDE Celebration, which kicked-off on Friday.
