A pre-trial hearing continued Friday for Scott Dekraai, the man accused of killing 8 people in Seal Beach in 2011.

During the hearing, defense attorneys hoped to get the death penalty removed as a possible sentence in the case against Dekraai.

Dekraai was accused of walking into Salon Meritage and opening fire, killing his ex-wife and seven others in October 2011.

The DA’s office has pushed for the death penalty in the case.

However, Dekraai’s attorneys have accused the District Attorney’s office of widespread misconduct, including failing to turn over important information to the defense.

If the judge does not kick the prosecutors off the case, then Dekraai’s attorneys want an order preventing the prosecution from seeking the death penalty.

Dekraai’s attorneys have already stated their client would be willing to plead guilty in exchange for a sentence of life in prison without parole.
