Three people are being sought after they were caught on surveillance video running out of a San Gabriel market after violently robbing a woman, officials announced Monday.
Around 8:40 p.m. Saturday, three men robbed two women, one inside 99 Ranch Market located at 140 W. Valley Blvd. in San Gabriel Square, and one in the parking lot, the San Gabriel Police Department said in a news release.
Security footage from inside the store shows a violent purse-snatching, in which the victim is dragged from the checkout line. The attacker can be seen grabbing the purse hanging off the woman’s shoulder, and then bolting toward the front door, yanking her along the way.
The robber managed to get the purse off the victim, and as cameras captured his escape, two accomplices joined him in dashing out of the store.
The victim suffered cuts on her face, arm and leg but will be OK, according to San Gabriel police.
After leaving the store, the three suspects proceeded to rob another woman in the parking lot, police said.
Both of the victims were Asian women in their 40s.
Two purses were ultimately stolen, and San Gabriel police say they believe the incidents were strong-armed robberies with no weapons.
Security footage from inside the store was released by authorities in hopes of having the public help identify the suspects.
The three suspected robbers are all believed to be Black men in their 20s.
No motive has been determined, but the department said it believes these are isolated incidents.
