One person died in a crash on the 110 Freeway near the Dodger Stadium early Saturday, officials said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2018 Honda Civic became disabled in the No. 3 northbound lane south of Stadium Way at around 1:10 a.m. The occupants exited and stood outside of the vehicle, authorities said.

A 2014 Ford Fiesta was approaching the disabled Civic when the oncoming vehicle was hit from behind by a 2017 Ford Mustang, pushing the Fiesta onto a pedestrian, the CHP said.

The pedestrian died, officials said. Meanwhile, the 38-year-old female driver of the Fiesta reported back pain and was taken to the Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center with minor injuries, according to the Highway Patrol.

CHP officials did not provide information on the condition of the Mustang driver but described her as female, asking anyone with information about the vehicle’s “driver or passenger” to contact them. The agency also did not disclose details about the occupants of the Civic.

The Highway Patrol previously described the deceased victim as a woman but later described the pedestrian in a news release as male. The agency could not clarify the identity of the victim, and the L.A. County coroner did not immediately respond to a request for information.

Video from the location shows Los Angeles Fire Department crews extinguishing flames that engulfed what appeared to be a sports car. Nearby, crews covered a body behind another heavily damaged vehicle that had come to rest on its side.

The “cause and sequence of events are still under investigation,” the CHP said in its news release.

The scene had been cleared as of 7:45 a.m., with all lanes open.

The CHP asked anyone with information to call 213-744-2331.
