A missing 19-year-old woman was found Friday morning in Eaton Canyon and airlifted to safety via helicopter.

Bora Kim, a Pasadena City College student, was found by an L.A. County sheriff’s search-and-rescue team, according to Robert Diaz of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. A county fire helicopter was summoned at 6:53 a.m., Diaz said.

Sky5 video showed the helicopter hovering over Eaton Canyon, where rescue officials on foot had made their way to Kim’s location.

A member of the helicopter team was lowered by cable to where the teen was stranded, then both were hoisted to the aircraft.

The helicopter flew to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, where Kim was seen walking unassisted after disembarking.

She “appeared to be in good condition, but understandably cold,” the Arcadia Police Department said in a statement. “Family members were contacted and will be reunited with Ms. Kim.”

She had been missing since about 8 a.m. Thursday, when her mother dropped her off at a bus stop en route to Pasadena City College, according to a previous statement issued by Arcadia police.

“Later in the day Kim sent suicidal messages to a boyfriend who recently broke up with her,” the statement said.

About 6 p.m., a friend received a cellular phone call from Kim, who said she was lost in the mountains and could hear a waterfall, police said.

Officials from the Sheriff’s Department’s Altadena Station, along with search-and-rescue teams from Montrose and Sierra Madre, on Thursday night combed an area in Eaton Canyon, where Kim has been known to spend time, officials said.
