The drama unfolded around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night at the Embassy Suites near the 55 Freeway and Dyer Road, according to a statement from the Santa Ana Police Department.

The men were wanted for allegedly stealing beer from a nearby Mobile gas station, according to police.

A gas station clerk followed the men to the Embassy Suites and called police.

With help from hotel management, officers tracked Gabriel Anthony Sauceda, 22, and Chad Alexander Walker, 20, to a party on the 10th floor, police said.

As officers entered the room, Sauceda and Walker fled through a window and climbed down the side of the hotel, police said.

Witnesses compared the men’s attempted getaway to something out of a Spiderman movie.

Sauceda broke his leg in several places and had to be plucked from the side of the building, police said.
