When Fox Sports shows baseball this season, fans — at least digital ones — will be in the stands.

Thursday, the network announced its plan to have virtual fans on its broadcasts, starting with this weekend’s games. Digital fans will be dressed in the team’s home colors, cheer for big plays and even boo the opposition.

For Angelenos, baseball returns Thursday with the Los Angeles Dodgers playing against the San Francisco Giants at 7 p.m. PDT. Instead of going digital, Dodger Stadium will be filled with cardboard cutouts of fans. They run for $299 for the Dugout Club and the new Pavilion Home Run Seats or $149 for the Loge and Field levels.
