A Santa Monica father remained in intensive care unit on Saturday as police announced the arrest of the second of two suspects who allegedly attacked him and his son in a bloody home invasion incident, police said.

Officers were called to the home in the 200 block of 20th Street just after 6 p.m. Friday, when two men were reported to have broken in attempting to commit a robbery, Santa Monica police said in a statement.

The father and son were home at the time and sustained injuries after trying to fight the men off. The father was stabbed multiple times, while the son was battered with a blunt object, officials said.

The neighborhood was placed on lockdown as SWAT officers and crisis negotiators were brought in to apprehend the assailants.

Brian Noah Morgan, who had originally fled the scene in a gold and black Mustang, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. in the 11200 block of Garvey Avenue in El Monte, officers said. Since officers at the scene had gathered the car’s license plate number as it drove away and alerted surrounding agencies, El Monte police were able to locate Morgan.

The 24-year-old was arrested on suspicion of robbery, burglary, conspiracy and parole violation, police said. He is being held in the Santa Monica jail without bail.

The other suspect, a male juvenile, was arrested around 9:30 p.m. following three-hour standoff at the home with police and booked on suspicion of attempted homicide, robbery, burglary, conspiracy and parole violation. His identity has been withheld due to his age, and he was being held at Eastlake Juvenile Hall.
