A stretch of the eastbound Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu was reopened after being shut down for several hours following a fatal crash on the roadway Saturday morning that led to the arrest of one man, authorities said.

A full-size GMC Yukon pickup truck was traveling eastbound on the highway when it hit a parked Honda Civic with a man and woman inside, a news release from the Sheriff’s Department stated.
The man, who was sitting in the driver’s seat, did not survive the collision. Authorities have not released his name but said he was believed to be about 18 years old.
The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. Video of the scene showed her holding the man’s hand as they waited for first responders.
Philip Torres, a 34-year-old Oxnard resident, was arrested after the crash and held on $25,000 bail, jail records showed. It was unclear why he was detained, and police said drug and alcohol tests were pending.
After hitting the first parked car, the GMC then hit another vehicle parked along the highway, according to Loughridge. A man and a juvenile female were both inside the car at the time, but neither sustained any injuries.

Following the second collision, the GMC rolled over and landed on its roof. The driver sustained minor injuries.
A SigAlert was issued and the eastbound lanes were expected to be closed between Corral Canyon and Puerto, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Initially, the closure was expected to last for approximately four hours, but the Sheriff’s Department later stated that the lanes would be closed for “an extended amount of time.”
All lanes were reopened shortly after 12:30 p.m., CHP tweeted.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
