Two people were recently arrested in connection to the death of a CSUN student from Saudi Arabia whose body was found one month after the 23-year-old went missing, police said Sunday.

Abdullah Abdullatif Alkadi was last seen at his Northridge home on Sept. 17. Within days he became the subject of a Los Angeles Police Department missing persons investigation. The FBI assisted in the case at the request of police.

Alkadi’s body was found just before midnight Thursday off the 10 Freeway in Palm Desert, according to the coroner’s office. The cause of death and condition of his body were not made available.

The California State University, Northridge student’s last communication was a phone call to a cousin on Sept. 17 that his brother, Ahmed Alkadi, described as “normal.”

While his phone was still active, Ahmen Alkadi traced his brother’s cellphone activity to Beaumonth, in Riverside County, which he told the Daily News was “very, very odd” since neither men had connections to the area.

Police also said Alkadi had sold his car shortly before disappearing, but the transaction was not linked to his disappearance, according to his brother.

Alkadi’s parents were “beside themselves with grief” and “shocked” that something like this could happen, according to family friend Salman Al-Mutawa.

The third-year electrical engineering student was one of seven siblings and had been studying in the U.S. since 2010, Ahmen Alkadi told the Daily News.

Details regarding the two arrests made by robbery and homicide detectives investigating Alkadi’s death were expected to be released during a Monday press conference, LAPD Officer Sally Madera said.
