A Los Angeles County Metro bus was being sequestered Monday after a passenger stated he had Ebola while exiting the vehicle, authorities said.
The bus was being held at 742 N. Mission Road (map), at the Metro Division 10 yard northeast of downtown L.A., spokesman Ramon Montenegro of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Transit Services Bureau.
The individual got off the bus and stated “I have Ebola” as he exited, Montenegro said.
The call came in to authorities from the bus at Venice Boulevard and Seventh Avenue in Mid-City (map) around 1 p.m., Sheriff’s Department Lt. Richard Hoffman said.
After the man who claimed to have Ebola exited the bus, the driver continued on his route, Hoffman said. It was not clear where the man got off, and he had not been located.
The bus driver was the only individual still on the bus as of 3 p.m., Montenegro said. Other passengers were believed to have exited at their desired stops.
No other information was immediately available.
