Bolt showed an expectant Rio crowd what he was made of and he didn’t disappoint.

He sailed through the men’s 100m semi-final, securing a very respectable 9.86 finish and went on to make Olympic history by winning gold in the final.

Only nanoseconds from the finish, Bolt was snapped flashing a cheeky smirk over his shoulder at his slower opponent.

It was a smirk made for Internet memes. Here are some of the funniest.

So fast is he, that he can afford to smile, says one.

Bolt even had time to take a quick selfie before he crossed the line.

“That Usain Bolt picture is giving me life right now!” exclaims one user, echoing the feelings of many across the Internet.

This commenter’s tweet illustrates how we all feel when we dream about being ahead in the game of life.

His smirk: When you hit that sweet spot with a well placed, provocative tweet.

“It’s been in Ohio as early as the mid-1850s at least, brought in as an ornamental plant because of its unique foliage and white flowers,” Gardner said. “It was actually planted in people’s landscaping, and it has been spreading.”

“If Usain were chasing Pokemon Go, it would be Game Over for the planet,” one commenter opines.

And the winner? Hat tip to the man himself.

Bolt dedicated his triumph to his beloved country.
