Woman who made up carjacking story arrested in death of Las Vegas man hit by own vehicle: Police

Danika Cain is seen in a booking photo released by Henderson police.

Henderson police say a 33-year-old woman allegedly made up a story about an alleged carjacking attempt and has been arrested on suspicion of murder in the death of a Las Vegas man struck by his own car.

Danika Cain was arrested Wednesday in the death Tuesday of Kent Reed, 44, after detectives determined that aspects of Cain’s initial account didn’t check out, police said.

According to police, Cain had said Tuesday that a stranger tried to steal Reed’s car when she was in it and then struck Reed with the car before running away.

Police said Wednesday that Cain and Reed were involved in a “domestic-related” verbal argument and that Reed got out of the vehicle before being struck.

Cain was booked into jail and held with out bail.

Online court records didn’t list an attorney for Cain who might comment on her behalf regarding the allegations.
