Hot Air Balloon Crashes Into Power Lines in Massachusetts

A hot-air balloon crashed into power lines Saturday in Clinton, Massachusetts, injuring five of the six people on board, officials said.

The balloon was trying to land in a residential area when it drifted into the nearby power lines, causing two huge explosions.

Jose Papaleo was one of several witnesses who captured the accident on video. He described it as “a big flash of red, right in front of you, and then another one.”

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” he said. “I’m still shaking from it.”

About 600 people in the area were temporarily left without power, according to officials.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
