American Airlines: 7 Hospitalized After Severe Turbulence Aboard Flight to Italy

Severe turbulence aboard an American Airlines flight carrying 203 people from Miami to Italy left seven people hospitalized, the airline said.

“American Airlines Flight 206 from Miami to Milan briefly encountered severe turbulence,” the airline said in a statement.

“The aircraft landed safely in Newfoundland, Canada, where it was met by paramedics who evaluated passengers and crew.”

Three flight attendants and four passengers were taken to a hospital after the incident Sunday night, the airline said.

Plans are underway to ensure the passengers and crew get to their destination.
