When police arrived at the home, they discovered the unidentified woman was deceased.

A man who lived at the home, identified as Brian Thomas Lowe, was arrest Monday night on suspicion of murder, according to Officer Joshua Kendrick with the Burbank Police Department.

The victim, described only as a Hispanic woman in her 30s, was said to be acquainted with someone who lived at the residence.

Her relationship, if any, to Lowe was unknown.

The woman suffered laceration wounds to her upper torso, Kendrick said.

Her cause of death had not been determined, but the “unusual” circumstances of her death were what prompted the homicide investigation, Kendrick said.

The home where the body was discovered was in a quiet residential part of Burbank. An elementary school is located about a couple of blocks away, according to Google Maps.

Kendrick described the incident as “very unusual” and “very scary” for the city.

“This is very rare for the city of Burbank. Burbank is a very safe city. For something like this to happen of this nature and this magnitude is significant,” Kendrick said. “So that’s why we’re bringing in everyone that we can to see what happened last night.”

Lowe was being held on $1 million bail and was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
