Windblown dust hurting air quality in Inland Empire

Officials are warning those in the Coachella Valley and Banning Pass that they’re likely to experience windblown dust until Friday.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District on Thursday advised that the dust is likely to remain in those areas through noon on Friday, creating air quality that is unhealthy for sensitive groups.


The South Coast AQMD released this map of a windblown dust advisory on June 13, 2024.

Gusts up to 30 mph are expected, and air quality is expected to be the worst in the northern Coachella Valley and at night, in general.
