A 14-year-old boy was hospitalized after being sucker punched near his San Fernando Valley high school last week.
Jordan Peisner, of West Hills, was leaving a fast food restaurant Dec. 2 when someone went up to him from behind and punched him.
“That’s all I remember,” Jordan said from his hospital bed Tuesday.
“I asked myself why, because this kid’s in middle school, I’m in high school, I don’t even know him,” the teen said.
The incident was captured on cellphone video and later posted on social media, Jordan’s father Ed Peisner said.
“To post a random act of violence on social media, to get attention, or, I don’t know why, it has to stop. He was bleeding out of his ear, completely disoriented,” Ed Peisner said.
Doctors said the punch fractured Jordan’s skull, ruptured his eardrum and caused swelling and bleeding in his brain.
He now has excruciating headaches and is sensitive to light.
Jordan remains at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles since the attack.
He’s able to take carefully monitored steps down the hospital hallway, but is still in a lot of pain and is saddened that it’ll be a while before he hops back on a skateboard.
“I’m not going to be able to skate for a long time because of this injury,” Jordan said.
The ninth grader also has to sit out the rest of his school year at El Camino Real Charter High School because of his injuries.
A GoFundMe page was created to help Jordan’s parents pay for medical bills. More than $10,000 have been raised since the page was created on Dec. 4.
Jordan’s parents have been in contact with police who told them the alleged attacker has been arrested. A teenage girl was also apparently questioned by authorities after posting the incident on Snapchat.
