Uber launched a new challenge for some of it’s drivers. The company is asking 175 people in the United States and Canada to ditch their cars for 5 weeks in exchange for $1k.
This is “to help reduce personal car ownership, and promote the switch to a car-light lifestyle,” a press release from the company said.
Uber will select 30 people here in Los Angeles to take part in the pilot program that will run from July 22nd to August 25th.
There are some stipulations though: You must be at least 18 years old, and be comfortable documenting your experience.
Other cities apart of the pilot program include Chicago, Washington, D.C., Miami, San Francisco, Toronto and Vancouver.
The $1k stipend will be broken down as follows:
- $500 in Uber Cash redeemable on Uber Rides and Lime e-bikes and e-scooters, booked in
- the Uber app.
- $200 voucher redeemable for car rental or carshare.
- $300 across other transportation modes, such as public transit.
- Plus, a free one-month of the Uber One membership
