Two Fetuses With Attached Umbilical Cords Found Dumped on Side of Road Near San Diego

Authorities were investigating the discovery Friday of the bodies of two fetuses found dumped along the side of the road in Fallbrook, near San Diego.
A blanket containing the bodies was found around 1:41 p.m. in the 1700 block of Saint Peters Drive, according to a news release from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Detectives at the scene said the fetuses were fully developed and were at least 20 weeks old, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

The umbilical cords of both fetuses were attached to a single placenta, the release stated.

The cause of death has not been determined.

Detectives were asking for the public’s help in identifying the mother, who they described as a woman who was recently pregnant, was no longer pregnant, but does not have her babies.
