Three people were killed, including a child, and three others injured in a devastating two-vehicle crash in Lancaster on Friday evening.

A Jeep and a pick-up truck collided around 6 p.m. in the intersection of 25th Street West and Avenue K.

The crash sent the Jeep careening into a metal stop light before finally slamming into a tree, according to witnesses at the scene.

The force of the impact tore the Jeep into pieces, ripping off the axle and sending pieces of the vehicle flying up into the tree branches, video from the scene showed.

Four of the five people inside the Jeep were ejected from the vehicle.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lt. Slade Carrizosa with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

One of the injured was transported in critical condition and later died at Antelope Valley Hospital.

The deceased victims were identified only as an adult man and woman and a child between 12 and 16 years old, according to Sgt. David Jennings with the Sheriff’s Department.

The driver of the Jeep was transported in serious condition along with another passenger who was critically injured, Jenning said.

The driver of the pick-up suffered only minor injuries.

It was not known if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash, according to Carrizosa.
