An estimated 2,886 Southern California Edison customers were without power in Beverly Hills Tuesday night, while another 389 customers were also in the dark in West Hollywood.
The outages were reported between 8 and 8:30 p.m., according to the SCE website.
As of 10:30 p.m. power had been restored to the majority of customers in West Hollywood, according to SCE spokeswoman Lauren Bartlett.
There were still 125 customers in Beverly Hills waiting for their power to be restored, Bartlett said.
The utility cited “trees in the equipment” as the reason for the outages.
The Los Angeles Department of water and Power was also working to restore power to 692 customers in the Beverly Crest area.
The National Weather Service recorded wind gusts of up to 55 mph in the area Tuesday evening that resulted in several trees being uprooted.
One of those trees fell onto a Mercedes-Benz near Lexington Road and Oxford Way in Beverly Hills while the driver was still inside the vehicle.
Fire crews were able to get the driver out safely but the car was a total loss.
