A suspected DUI driver was arrested early Wednesday morning after leading law enforcement officials on a nearly hourlong pursuit from Van Nuys to South L.A., according to the Los Angeles Police Department and the California Highway Patrol.

Officers noticed the man driving erratically in the area of Victory Boulevard and Haskell Avenue in Van Nuys (map) around 12:40 a.m. and attempted to pull him over on suspicion of driving under the influence, but he kept driving and led officers on a pursuit, according to LAPD Lt. Gregory Hoyte.

The pursuit moved east into Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock, and eventually into Downtown L.A., where CHP crews took control of the pursuit on the 110 Freeway.

The driver reached speeds up to 80 mph but eventually exited the freeway, crashed on West 119th Street near South Broadway (map) in the Boardway-Manchester area of South L.A., and fled on foot in the area, according to CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos.

Crews established a perimeter and later found the driver behind a home at around 1:34 a.m.

No one was injured in the pursuit, but the driver received precautionary medical attention after crews used a Taser to detain him.
