A 24-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stabbing his father to death while the two were doing construction work in Lynwood Thursday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Both men were apparently working at a residence in the 10700 block of McNerney Avenue when they started arguing, the Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

The argument escalated, resulting in the son stabbing his 60-year-old father, the release stated.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a stabbing victim around 10 a.m. and found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds to his torso.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His son was detained at the residence before being arrested on suspicion of murder, according to the release. He was booked at the Inmate Reception Center and is being held on $1 million bail.

Authorities recovered a knife at the scene, and they believe it is the same one used in the killing, the release stated.

Anyone with information about the fatal stabbing is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
