Enthusiastic skiers and snowboarders descended on the slopes at Bear Mountain ski resort Friday as the popular destination marked its opening day of the season.
“We’re starting off a lot better” than last season, “with more terrain, more lifts, right off the bat,” a spokesman for the Angelus Oaks resort said. “We’ve got 30 features over here, top to bottom run.”
Four lifts were open as snow machines produced fresh powder throughout the morning.
On Friday, Bear Mountain and nearby Snow Summit were offering lift tickets for $35 that were accepted at both resorts. Bear Mountain season passes were available for sale online, and were scheduled to increase in price on Dec. 6.
One of the few skiers on the slopes, which were mostly populated by snowboarders Friday, said it was “one of the best opening days in four or five years.”
