Sheriff’s homicide detectives on Thursday were investigating the death woman found dead, completely wrapped in a blanket, in her home in the city of Bell.
Detectives responded to Pine Avenue to help the Bell Police Department, according to a brief news release sent out by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department about 10:15 a.m.
Authorities on scene — in the 6600 block of Pine Avenue — said a woman was found dead after a welfare check at a home about 7:30 a.m.
The woman’s body was “wrapped up in a blanket and placed somewhere other than a bed,” sheriff’s Lt. Mike Rosson said.
“She was wrapped in a blanket and people don’t do that to themselves, so we don’t know if it’s somebody know to her, we don’t know if it’s random — a home invasion,” Rosson said.
The woman’s door was locked when authorities arrived, and the home had not been ransacked. The victim, believed to be in her 50s, had last been seen alive a couple of days earlier.
Authorities did not say what, if any, injuries were suffered by the woman.
Investigators were speaking with the victim’s family.
The Sheriff’s Department initially gave an address of 7600 block of Pine Avenue, but investigators were actually responding to a home in the 6600 block, just north of Bell Avenue. The investigation location is a block south of the Bell Police Department and City Hall.
