Concerned family members are asking the public for help Tuesday in their search for a Palmdale man with bipolar disorder who disappeared from a downtown Los Angeles gym on Friday.
David Gil-Garcia was last seen at 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu in the 1300 block of South Grand Avenue, according to his mother Rosario Tacen.
Tacen says Gil-Garcia, 29, stopped responding to texts and calls over the weekend so she drove to the gym and found her son’s car parked nearby.
Gil-Garcia’s cellphone was turned in on Monday by another person who goes to the same gym, Tacen said.
That person dropped Gil-Garcia off at his car on Friday night but said he didn’t realize until learning of the disappearance that he was in possession of the cellphone, Tacen said.
Gil-Garcia is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds with hazel eyes and black hair.
Tacen said her son has bipolar disorder and is taking medication but she does not believe the condition is related to his disappearance.
A missing person’s report was filed with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Palmdale station on Monday.
