Police are investigating Monday after a home invasion robbery left one man shot and injured in Santa Monica.
Officers received a call around 6:21 a.m. Sunday about an incident in the 600 block of Adelaide Drive. The homeowner was awoken by a man in a mask similar to the one used in the movie “Scream”, according to Lt. Saul Rodriguez.
The homeowner was shot by the intruder and transported to a local hospital in stable condition, police said. It is unknown if anything was stolen.
Neighbors reported hearing a women scream and two gunshots around 6 a.m.
“We live in this neighborhood because it’s supposed to be a safe neighborhood,” said Todd Ackerman, a neighbor. “Not that this can’t happen in any neighborhood in Los Angeles, but that’s appalling to me.”
Neighbors told KTLA that there was a party at the home Saturday night. Police confirmed several people were in the home at the time of the shooting.
The shooter is described as man last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and a mask. Anyone with information is asked to call the Santa Monica Police Department at 310- 395-9931.
