A suspended basketball coach at the Albert Einstein Academy in Santa Clarita was arrested Wednesday on allegations of child sex abuse involving five boys.
Randolph Jackson was taken into custody in Washington, D.C., on a felony complaint filed Feb. 13 charging him with a total of 20 counts in connection with the crimes that allegedly occurred over a four-year period, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Jackson was suspected of molesting 5 boys between the ages of 13 and 17 at various locations in Los Angeles between November 2010 and January 2015, the release stated.
He was charged with eight felony counts, including one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, one count of oral copulation of a person under 16, three counts of attempted oral copulation of a person under 16, sodomy of a person under 16 and two counts of lewd act on a child, according to the DA’s Office.
He also was charged with 12 misdemeanor counts, including nine counts of indecent exposure and three counts of child molesting, the release stated.
Jackson was awaiting extradition. Prosecutors were expected to ask that his bail be set at $840.000.
If convicted as charged, Jackson faced more than 30 years in state prison.
